An interesting exercise that we conduct each year is to assess the values of the entrants to the WorldSkills UK 2016 Health and Social Care competition using the Profiles4Care values-based recruitment tool.
We monitor and advise our clients on establishing benchmarks and identifying the relevant personality traits for the job they are recruiting or promoting for, which helps us to stay on top of what really matters to employers and reinforces what we already know about what makes a good frontline care worker, manager, etc.
As we always say, there are no ‘wrong’ personality types, just people in the wrong jobs to suit their strengths. From the results from the 84 applicants we were very pleased to see that the clear majority of students and trainees were in the psychological map location that produces the best frontline care workers.
Taking a closer look when it came to those who qualified for the Finals it is good to see that these values are what came shining through in the Qualifying Heats and is reflected in the profile of the finalists. It’s going to be a very tough competition this week.
