Two students at the College of West Anglia have won Gold and Silver medals at this year’s WorldSkills UK Health and Social Care competition, beating off strong opposition from across the UK in the Finals held at The Skills Show at Birmingham’s NEC, which took place from 16th to 18th November 2017 and was attended by over 70,000 people.

Gold Medal winner Harriet McDonald, Silver Medal winner Molly Pickels and Bronze Medal winner Melissa McTague from Sheffield Teaching Hospital demonstrated their health and social care sector skills against fellow competitors in a mix of written tests and live scenarios, devised by Competition Organising Partner Profiles4Care to replicate situations which health and social care workers are expected to face in the professional environment.
Emily Bonner from South Devon College also placed as ‘Highly Commended’ and she, Harriet and Molly will begin training with the aim of representing Team UK at WorldSkills Kazan in Russia in 2019, where they will compete against teams from 70 other countries.
