Registration Opens for WorldSkills UK 2016 Health and Social Care Competition
The UK’s most talented students and trainees in Health and Social Care are being invited to put their skills to the test and enter the WorldSkills UK Competitions in 2016, which was officially launched by Nadhim Zahawi MP, the Prime Minister’s apprenticeships adviser at the House of Commons.
Open for registration from 1 March until 7 April 2016, the WorldSkills UK Competition in Health and Social Care, run in collaboration with Organising Partner Profiles4Care, is designed to enable the UK’s best and brightest to showcase their talent to employers.
The WorldSkills UK Competition includes a series of tests, designed by industry experts, which focus on the highest UK and international standards. The competitions enable employers to benchmark their training programmes, raising standards across the UK.
The finals of the WorldSkills UK Competitions are held at The Skills Show, the UK’s largest skills and career event, which takes place at the NEC Birmingham from 17 to 19 November 2016 and which last year attracted nearly 80,000 visitors.
2015’s Gold Medal Winner in the Health and Social Care competition was Jacqueline Boyd from Glasgow, who studies at the City of Glasgow College.
Marc Jones, Director of Profiles4Care said: “This will be our second year as Organising Partner for this competition and last year we witnessed amazing levels of skill and talent at the Regional Qualifying Heats and the Finals. It is inspiring and it’s good to know that we are supporting young people ambitious in their pursuit of taking their skills to the highest level.”
Speaking on behalf of WorldSkills UK Competitions, Dr Neil Bentley, said: “WorldSkills UK Competitions are proven to enhance a person’s apprenticeship or training programme by enabling them to develop key character and employability skills. By using knowledge gained from competing nationally and internationally, we know we are working to benchmarks that will equip more young people with the right skills to help UK businesses compete better globally.”
Registration details to enter the WorldSkills UK Competitions are available at www.worldskillsuk.org from 1 March until 7 April 2016.
